Thanks to the establishment of the list of ration cards, card holders will be able to recover their products and food. Also, basic necessities will be made available to ration card holders.

Conversion of Kerala Ration Card to Smart Cards

The Kerala government will convert ration cards into smart cards by changing the size of ATM cards. These ration cards can also serve as an identity card. The first distribution phase of this ration card will begin on November 1. The front of the ration card will display the owner’s photo, barcode and QR code and the other side of the ration card will contain the information regarding monthly income, number of ration stores and whether the house has an electrified connection, connection to LPG gas, etc. Citizens are required to pay Rs 25 as a service charge to convert their ration card into a smart card.

The priority category will be exempt from the service charge. All cardholders can apply for this card directly at the taluk supply office or online through the civil supply service portal. If a taluk supply officer or city ration officer approves the card, it will reach the requestor’s login page.

Installation of a QR code machine in ration stores

You can also use a smart card by downloading it in PDF version. This card will also contain contact numbers for TSO officers, taluk supply officers and ration inspectors. This smart card is the modification of the ration card which was inaugurated by the former minister of food and civil supplies. The government will also install a QR code scanner with the ePOS machine in ration stores. When the QR code has been scanned, the owner information is displayed on the screen. Apart from this, the beneficiary will also receive cell phone information when purchasing ration items.

Eligibility criteria for Kerala Ration Card

The following eligibility criteria must be met to apply for the Kerala Ration Card:-

  • The applicant must be an Indian citizen
  • An applicant must be a permanent and legal resident of the state of Kerala
