COVID-19 – Veteran Defense Doctors Show Up to Provide Free Online Consultation Services, Launch OPD e-Sanjeevani Platform

In order to alleviate the criticality of insufficient availability of specialist medical personnel, veteran defense medics have come forward to respond to the nation’s call to provide free online consultation services on the platform e -Sanjeevani. This will help put the invaluable experience of veteran defense health professionals at the disposal of their fellow citizens across the country.

All citizens are welcome to use this unique facility by logging into esanjeevaniopd.in.

e-Sanjeevani OPD is a flagship Indian government telemedicine platform developed by C-DAC, Mohali under the aegis of MoHFW, Indian government. It facilitates free online medical consultations to all Indian citizens and enables online prescription of drugs.

“Ex-Defense OPD” was launched on May 7, 2021 in a progressive manner by the Secretary of Defense, Dr. Ajay Kumar, and the vice-admiral surgeon Rajat Datta, director general of the medical services of the armed forces. Initially available for Uttar Pradesh, it was extended to Rajasthan on May 10 and Uttarakhand on May 11 as more and more volunteer veteran defense medics came on board. To date, 85 veteran defense physicians provide their services on the portal and have provided online consultations to more than 1,000 patients.

After the successful deployment in 3 states, the OPD Ex-Defense, now renamed Defense National OPD, was deployed in India on May 14, 2021 and is available at www.esanjeevaniopd.in.

The availability of seasoned defense health professionals on this Indian government platform has given OPD STAY HOME a further boost. Their vast experience and expertise are used optimally by patients across the country. This initiative will go a long way in securing the necessary medical advice and consultations in the safe environment of patients’ homes, avoiding unnecessary visits to hospitals and increasing the risk of becoming infected with COVID and overburdening limited health resources. .
