Favor beneficiaries with online appointments during vaccination: Odisha Govt to vaccinators

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today ordered staff associated with the Covid-19 vaccination to give preference to those who make an online appointment through Cowin to be vaccinated.

In a letter to collectors, city commissioners, CDMOs and PHOs, the additional chief secretary of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, PK Mohapatra, said program officers, managers, vaccinators and auditors in the respective districts and municipal companies should ensure that beneficiaries who have made an on-site appointment via Cowin will have preference for the vaccines available over those who have opted for registrations and appointments on square.

Mohapatra also cited that the Department of Health and Family Welfare has noticed that in some vaccination centers, online and on-site slots are maintained. He added that it has been observed that beneficiaries who have booked an appointment online have to wait longer to get vaccinated compared to on-site slots.

The letter further stated that the on-site registration feature should only be used for the purpose of allowing access to facilitated cohorts and minimizing vaccine wastage.
