The Union Government Department of Tribal Affairs has invited online applications for the national scholarship and scholarship under the “National Scholarship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students” program for the academic season. .

Interested and eligible applicants should apply as soon as possible as the deadline will end at the end of this month.

NFST scholarship

  • The aim of the program is to encourage ST students, a part of the society with the lowest literacy levels in the country, to acquire higher education in the form of scholarships to attend Masters of Philosophy and PhD courses. , with a view to creating qualified professionals for teaching / professional positions and other higher employment levels

NFST scholarship

  • ST Students aims to encourage deserving ST students to attend graduate / post-graduate level courses in identified institutions of excellence, government and private, in professional fields such as management, medicine, engineering, technology information, law, etc.

Main features of the NFST scholarship

  • The scholarship program covers all universities / institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2 (f) of the UGC Act.
  • The scholarship will be modeled on the UGC / ICAR scholarships awarded to research students and will meet the requirements of students from Listed Tribes pursuing research studies leading to a regular full-time M.Phil, Ph.D. course only and equivalent research degree at universities, research institutes and scientific institutions.

Main features of the NFST scholarship

  • The scholarship covers courses and institutions notified by the Department of Tribal Affairs.
  • ST students who gain admission to these institutes receive scholarships. The scholarship, once awarded, will continue until the end of the course duration, subject to satisfactory performance.

NFST scholarship eligibility

The candidate belonging to ST must have passed the post-graduation exam to be eligible for the scholarship. The candidate must obtain admission and registration to regular and full-time M.Phil / Ph.D courses at universities / academic institutions in the following category: [as amended 12th November 2018]

  • Universities / institutes / colleges included in section 2 (f) or 12 (B) or 2 (f) and 12 (B) of the UGC law.
  • Considered as universities included in section 3 of the UGC law of 1956 and eligible to receive grants from UGC.
  • Universities / institutes / colleges funded by central / state government
  • Institutes of national importance.

NFST scholarship eligibility

  • ST students who have obtained their admission to the notified institutions according to the standards prescribed by the respective institutions will be eligible for the 7 scholarship under the program.
  • The student will be eligible to register only on the list of Institutions identified by the Ministry.
  • The total family income of the candidate eligible for this scholarship from all sources should not exceed Rs.6.0 lakh per year.
  • The scholarship is payable once the student has obtained admission and has started attending classes.
  • The scholarship awarded will continue until the end of the course, subject to satisfactory performance by the student.
