Applications are invited from eminent scholars to fill the positions of Vice Chancellor at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi on transfer/deputation/contract basis.

The positions carry a salary of Rs 2,10,000 per month and a special allowance of Rs 11,250 per month along with other allowances as per 7e CPC.

The vice-chancellor is appointed by the government on similar terms and conditions, usually for five years or until the age of 70, whichever comes first.

The National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education. It is the supreme training institute in India for educational planners and administrators. Its main functions cover the areas of training, consultancy and research advisory services, knowledge dissemination and networking with other international institutions and agencies.

The Vice-Chancellor is the principal academic and executive head of the institute and must have experience in one of these fields. He/she must have impressive academic credentials as he/she should spearhead the major initiative to achieve the goals of NIEPA and the administrative record for the effective administration of NIEPA affairs.


  • A person possessing the highest level of competence, integrity, character and institutional commitment should be appointed as Voce-Chancellor.
  • The person to be appointed vice-chancellor must be an emeritus academician with at least ten years of experience as a professor in a university or ten years of experience in a reputable research organization and/or university administration, with proof to have proven themselves academically. leadership.
  • Experience in the field of educational planning and administration at the national and international level.
  • She/he must not be over the age of 65 on the deadline for receipt of applications for this announcement.
