Online appointment for the precautionary dose of the Covid vaccine begins on the CoWIN portal

New Delhi: The online appointment for the “precautionary dose” of the COVID vaccine for healthcare workers, frontline workers and people aged 60 and over with comorbidities began on Saturday evening on the CoWIN portal. Previously, the Ministry of Health had issued guidelines and said that there was no need to re-register people taking the precautionary dose and they could directly make an appointment from Saturday or without. appointment.

“All people aged 60 and over with comorbidities will not be required to produce or submit a certificate from their doctor at the time of administration of the precautionary dose,” the Ministry of Health had said.

In a letter to states and UTs, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that personnel who will be deployed for elections in ballot-related states will also be included in the FLW category.

The Ministry had also indicated that the eligibility of these beneficiaries for the precautionary dose will be based on the date of administration of the second dose as recorded in the Co-WIN system (achievement of 9 months, i.e. 39 weeks from the date of administration of the second dose), according to the directives issued by the ministry.

Notably, CoWIN will send reminder messages to everyone eligible for the precautionary dose and the dose will be reflected in digital vaccination certificates.
