Online driving license application closed in four days – myRepublica

KATMANDU, October 29: The online driver’s license application system has been closed. Within four days of the opening of permit applications for all types of vehicles by the Department of Transportation Management, a technical problem was detected in the system. The online request system has been closed since Thursday for repairs.

The ministry had announced online applications for the new license starting at 5 p.m. Monday. However, a technical error occurred in the system, forcing authorities to close applications that had been opened after a six-month hiatus, said Loknath Bhusal, the department’s chief information officer. He said the server had been completely closed since Wednesday, when around 1 million people attempted to complete the form at a time. He said the app will be open as soon as possible as the team, including technicians, have already started repair work.

There are still over 350,000 people lining up to apply for a driver’s license. This number is highest in the Kathmandu Valley. There are four transport management offices in the Kathmandu Valley and 21 outside the valley.

Information Officer Bhusal said the turn of those who have already applied will come first. He informed Republica that the turn of those who recently applied will come in four months if they are in the Kathmandu Valley and in a month if they are outside the Kathmandu Valley.

The department has started taking the licensing exam according to the new criteria. According to the new criteria, participants who have obtained 60 percent in writing and 70 points in the various stages of the test exam will be passed.
