SLASPA launches online appointment system


The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) has launched an online nomination system for the barrel trade. The app will feature a convenient and hassle-free space offering real-time online reservations in addition to automated emails and SMS reminders.

SLASPA implemented its first-ever appointment system for personal effects clearance in November of last year, with the system taking full effect on November 4, 2020. The process served as part of the national response for contain the spread of the COVID19 virus.

Since the pandemic, the use of online platforms has accelerated. Therefore, the move to online booking was strategic to meet the standards of a digital age and ensure the safety of customers and employees.

According to SLASPA, this new platform will be essential in providing customers with a user-friendly space for the transition to the new reality of digitized processes. SLASPA Compliance and Oversight Coordinator Samara Gabriel – Howell describes the new application as a step in the right direction for the Authority.

According to her, “the introduction of the online public meeting system will bode well for our operations at Ports Castries and Vieux Fort, drastically reducing port traffic while allowing customers to use the services of a system; designed with them in mind. Customers using the system should log into the SLASPA website at, click on the link and follow the prompt. Following this, users will receive a confirmation SMS over the phone with the accompanying details.
